This morning we took a trip to the Art Museum. It is one of our favorite places. The kids have been going there since birth. It was Dale's go-to place to take them when I needed a bit of a break. Our love for the Art Museum was only heightened by the art unit the kids experienced while in junior kindergarden. They learned about several artists in depth- Calder, Monet, Cassatt, Degas and Kandinsky.
In the last several years we have graduated to taking sketch books on our visits. In each room the kids can choose 1 piece to sketch (we have to limit it to 1 because someone, who shall remain nameless, would sketch everything!)
Since the museum is under construction our favorite paintings were not to be found. It was ok though. We just browsed thru the sketch books to find our version from a previous visit.
We really wanted to see Monet's Water Lilies (currently on display thru Jan. 22) but it was sold out. No worries, we got tickets to see it in a few weeks! Which really meant we could limit our visit today to an hour.
I love that Luke walks thru the museum with his hands behind his back....
