jk

Today was a great day in JK!! The class made applesauce and then had a taste test. Which do you like the best: unsweetened, cinnamon or sugar applesauce? It was an overwhelming majority!! It was also Luke's ALL ABOUT ME day! He brought in 5 favorite items that belong to him. The children in the class were able to get a glimpse into Luke Beachy's life. He was a little shy but did a great job explaining how each treasure was special to him. Then he had to lead a "Luke" cheer. Lastly he had to rearrange a mixed up spelling of his name and lead the class in a syllable beat. JK is such a GREAT place to learn and have fun.....

Luke had to call on friends to hold the letter cards. At the beginning of the day Kharis said, "Luke you should pick me to hold your letter." He picked her first (she is holding the E). Way to be assertive Kharis!!

super sunday

Sunday was a beautiful day. So much going on. After church we had to release Preeny, our preying mantis, back into the wild. Luke was very sad. Later he and I went to Oberweis for some ice cream (thanks Briggs and Max for the birthday present!) We watched a little Rams football then headed to the park on our bikes. It was Carsyn's first solo ride! She did amazing on the road. We played at the park and had races. By evening we were tired out (well, Dale and I were!)...

one more chance

Today was Carsyn second to the last soccer game. SO that means that you have 1 more chance to see our super star in action! Next Saturday (3:00) if you have nothing going on (like working on a Saturday or a softball/volleyball game or a youth group activity or painting pottery or something like that) then come on over and hang out with us!!!

artists

Today the kids were home because of a teacher work day- which was mostly fine because we had things to do to prepare for Dale birthday. We lazed around in the morning then had "lunch" at with Dale @ 10:30. When we got home we painted his birthday present. They each picked a favorite thing about Florida, drew it on paper and then painted it on canvas. It was fun to watch them put their own ideas into "print". After that we made a "wheat free" cake (yum!?). The kids frosted it and put bathtub pirate toys on top for a decoration (NO, I didn't wash them first. Bath water is clean, right?!?) We then made a delicious dinner. Later after eating and presents we headed to the Art Museum so we could "be" with other artists (because painting on canvas makes you feel like a real artist.) It was a fun night!

Carsyn's painting is of daddy throwing her into the water at Aunt Sarah's pool...

Luke's painting is of himself and daddy looking at a heron standing in a pool of water surrounded by bricks...

Reagan's painting is of her collecting shark teeth at Shark Beach (she is standing near a lemon shark tooth which SHE found)...

They did an AWESOME job!!

Happy 37th Birthday to Dale!!!

dinner is served

Today at nap time we were reading a story about John the Baptist. We talked about how he ate locusts and wild honey. Reagan said,"We don't eat locusts. We eat meat. But not people meat. We eat animal meat that daddy shoots. He kills it and brings it in and we cut the skin off and cook it for dinner."

Hmmmm. Really?!?

i love fall

The chill is in the air: cider is made, coffee seems more delicious, hot chocolate hits the spot and tea, well..... is still tea.
However, I found a fantastic recipe for Chai Tea Latte.
You should try it.....

Chai Tea Latte:
2 individual tea bags
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground allspice
1c water
1c milk
1/4 c packed brown sugar
2 tbs french vanilla creamer

Place 1st 4 ingredients in the coffee filter of a drip coffee pot- brew.
Mix remaining ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat until heated through.
Then place in with tea mixture (I put it in the pot to help keep it warm)
ENJOY!!

the symphony

Today Carsyn's class went to the Symphony to see Peter and the Wolf. It was a fun performance. The kids (and parents) really enjoyed it! I took some pictures of the kids then got "caught" so this is all I have.....

pumpkin patch

We went to this fun pumpkin patch over the weekend. The kids had a great time.

apple cider

Several years ago Dale built a cider press (there's a surprise). We made cider 3 years in a row (02, 03, 04). Not since then. This year we decided it was time. The whole Beachy family gathered together for this fall "tradition". We made 31 gallons! It was fun (and delicious)...

a new place to go

Today Reagan and I went to the zoo. It is always a fun place to go especially when we live so close and it's FREE!! When we got there we found out that they have a new Discovery Room for toddlers. It's a room filled with fun things for little ones. It is open Wednesday thru Saturday. There are 45 minute time slots from 10:00 until 3:00. So if you live in the area, check it out! We had a blast (as you will see in the LONG photo montage)....
