race day

Friday afternoon we went to visit Dale at his school.  Carsyn has been anxious to race the car she had built this summer.  It's a co2 dragster car.   She used a computer program to design it.  After she finished that she used a scroll saw to cut it out of a block of balsa wood.  Then she sanded and painted it and added the wheels.  The finished vehicle is really cool!   AND, to see it race was even better.

The get it all set up Luke measured out 72ft., they placed the start and finish line, hooked up the "track" (fishing line to keep the car running straight), and added the "soda bulb" (the co2 cartridge).

When Carsyn dropped the trigger a needle punctured a hole in the cartridge.  The car raced off.  It was so fast that the first 2 times I couldn't catch a photo of it.  (It was suppose to go at about 60mph.....)

Everyone was super excited about it!

indian summer

This weekend was beautiful.  Saturday was 84 degrees!  We spent A LOT of time outside.  Saturday morning we went to watch the 5th and 6th grade boys last football game of the season.  Carsyn had a great time watching her buddies play.  We also celebrated with them afterward.   In the afternoon we played baseball, four square, went to Sonic for ice cream and grilled a delicious steak dinner.  (Wish I would have dusted out my camera...)

Today we spent a lot of time outside as well.   Dale even began to put up our Christmas lights on the house (no worries, they will  not be turned on until after Thanksgiving).

The kids are enjoying football season....

end of the season

This weekend we went camping- our last of the season.   After many trips to this particular campground we found the perfect spot- lots of space and right by a trail.

Reagan spent a lot of time in the woods pretending to be a Native American.  She kept fishing and hunting so she could feed her pack of wolves.  Her creativity knows no bounds....

We had a fun weekend.

halloween 2012

This year the kids decided to dress up as 3 of the Avengers: Captain America, Hawkeye and IronMan.  I told them they had to make their own costumes from the things we had at our house.  They totally made it happen.

We had friends over for dinner then dressed up and headed down the block to the nearest trunk-or-treat.  On the way back we hit a few houses in the neighborhood.  At one of the last houses there was a werewolf that creeped up to the door (from the inside).  As it was approaching Reagan said, "Look!  A bear!"  Luke commented that he could shoot the bear.   Funny- they had no idea it was a werewolf (or even what that is!)

Fun times.....
