October 11th, 2013. My sweet son is 10!
It is so crazy. These days are fling by way too fast. The older they get the faster it goes.
I am so blessed to be his momma. Luke is handsome, smart, sweet natured, kind and loving. He is a great friend. He loves birds, basketball, shooting guns (nerf and otherwise), kayaking and his dog, Berkeley.
I told him the other night that I was a mixture of happy and sad. Happy that he is growing and maturing and becoming independent but also sad that he is getting closer to going out on his own. Here was our conversation:
L- Mom, don't worry. After college I am going to get married and move back in with you.
M- I'm not sure your wife will go for that.
L- Well, we can add on to the back of our house and make room for us and our two kids. I NEVER want to leave you.
HA! Love that boy!!!

geocaching
Today we went geocaching as a fourth grade field trip. There is an app you can get (of course) that helps you find the caches. The first one we went to we searched and searched for. We had NO idea what to look for. Luke found a golf ball with a hole drilled into it and a mini flashlight stitching out. We thought that was weird so he chucked it. Later our "geocaching expert" told us that it was probably the cache- we should have unscrewed the flashlight and looked inside. Oops. No one will find that one now. So sorry...
After that incident the teacher came and helped us find out first official cache. Luke was the one to spot it. We signed that paper and then had a better idea of what to expect.
The next one we looked for was fun. It was on an island. Luke (and J and I) had to cross the water to locate it. J fell in!! It was very funny (but he did not get hurt!) That was a big one. The boys each got to trade a trinket.
After that we scored a HUGE one- the kids had to rock-paper-scissors to decide on who got the cool item. Then on our way out we found one more.
All-in-all it was a fun day. HOT. But fun....

four square
Last Sunday Luke got together with a few buddies to play some indoor and outdoor games. We are very into four square. Luke is quite the champion at our house. His friends give him a run for his money though....
