child labor

Darrell brought a load of wood down when he came on Saturday. Today the kids helped Dale stack it behind the carriage house. They enjoyed working with their dad (as usual)...

Carsyn loading some wood in a crate (this is the small pile)
Reagan working on another small pile...
C and L taking it around back...

R unlaoding with Dale...

R was SO excited that she got a splinter and didn't fuss that she had to show it off to her siblings...

I remember when I was a kid and my dad would say, "This is your job. I had you so I wouldn't have to do this." Now I understand....

kidding.

well, sort of. :)

easter crafts

Yesterday we decorated eggs.....

Today we made Easter bunnies which are suppose to look like these beauties from Family Fun...

The kids had so much fun! They each made 2 bunnies.
From a distance they look like the ones in the magazine....
Up close they look like they are made by children. Children who apparently like to slaughter bunnies.
Dale always said killing and skinning a rabbit should be an activity to earn a Scout badge. :)

teachers

The other day the kids were playing basketball outside and decided that during the week Luke would host a basketball clinic so he could teach his sisters what he knows about his favorite sport.

Carsyn is hosting a clinic on the weekends to teach everyone about skateboarding.

Reagan gave a disappointed sigh and declared/whined, "What am I going to teach about? The only thing I know about is Jesus!"

Carsyn piped in, "That's ok Reagan! Everyone needs to know about Jesus! You can teach about that!"

I laughed and then signed up for all 3 opportunities! :)

our newest addition

When Dale and I began our teaching careers (14 years ago) we decided that eventually we would like to spend the summers traveling around the Unites States seeing things. Our rich history will lead us to the east coast where will will enjoy seeing battle grounds and reenactments and forts. Not to mention eating fresh caught Maine lobster and delicious blueberries. We are looking forward to seeing natural wonders such as Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon and the red forests. Spending time in our nation's capital is part of the excitement too. SO many places to go, things to do and food to eat.

Now that we have children (and not babies) it seems that our US adventures have moved to the top of our "to do" list. So, a few weeks ago we purchased a traveling companion. Something that will make our adventures more affordable. Something that will alow us to "pick up and go" on any school break. Meet the newest addition to the Beachy household:

our home on wheels...

complete with a bed for us...
a dining/kitchen galley...
triple bunks (everyone has their OWN space)...
and a bathroom (with a shower)...

We are super excited about making the final decision to jump in with both feet (it only took 14 years- we don't like to rush into big decisions)!

We are off this summer on our first adventure. Details to follow!

FYI- Melanie already has dibs on plant watering... :)
