Yesterday Dale took a CPR class and it ended in time for us to go out to lunch. Crazy! Lunch. Out. On a school day! We ate sushi and then Dale decided we should go to the Asian seafood market on Olive. We have never shopped there and Dale has always been curious.
We walk in and were slammed in the face with a pungent fish odor. As we scan the perimiter we notice that it is not a seafood market (although they have a huge fish section) but a market that has every Asian item known to man. This place is HUGE! We started searching the isles for interesting items. This market did not disappoint. There were treasures galore.
Such as....
Jackfruit!
Fresh turtles (swimming furiously trying to figure out why they are in a glass box!)
Fresh blue crab..
and "selected" as opposed to the unworthy, pork brains!
We were stopped by this Asian lady, Miche, who asked if we were looking for anything special. She proceeded to explain to us what to try. She said she like to help because we all people. We all need help from time to time. We all here to help each other out. I completely agree. We definitely looked like we needed help- 2 westerners in a decidedly un-western store. I am so thankful for Miche and her western husband, Ted. We bought some calamansi juice, squez'n' bites and Cafe' Du Monde' coffee (no joke!)
