the last day

Today was the last day of school for the kiddos. It has been such a wonderful year for all three of them.

Reagan has loved being in kindergarten. Her teacher, Mrs. Hadden, was a perfect fit for Reagan. She is everything you think a kindergarten teacher should be. She is sweet and kind, gentle yet firm. She has taught Reagan so many new things. Reagan loves to journal and draw and "do math". She has come a long way in her reading skills too! She still likes to make up the stories (some of the time) because it is WAY more interesting. We are so pleased with how kindergarten turned out!

Luke has had a terrific 1st grade year. It was Mrs. K's first year and she did a great job wrangling those squirrly 1st grade boys (minus Luke of course). Luke's favorite unit they studied was the polar unit. They spent the better part of the winter studying all about God's great Arctic creation. He also is a huge fan of math (go figure). He doesn't love to read but Mrs. K did a great job getting him to like it.

Carsyn had a fantastic year in 3rd grade! Ms. Baker was wonderful with Carsyn. She knew Carsyn very well and all throughout the year she made adjustments- allowing Carsyn some freedom which helped her to successfully participate in school. For example: Carsyn does not love spelling. We always would start spelling homework the Friday before the test- that gave us an extra weekend to practice. We also participated in spelling activities (that I came up with) and Ms. B counted them as her homework. It was so helpful to make Carsyn a successful speller! I love that Ms. Baker, above everything, wanted Carsyn to be successful!

We truly have wonderful teachers at CCS. I am always amazed at their obvious heart for Jesus and their dedication to their students. I am so glad we have the opportunity to attend CCS!

Reagan and her buddies:
the last day hot lunch dessert was NOT to my liking...
yearbook time:
Luke loves to basketball with the older kids:

I am so sad to give up my prime parking spot up front! It has been such a blessing this year! It willl be difficult driving down to the parking garage in the fall.
summer here we come!

the future looks bright

My friend Melanie just had a baby. In thinking about the perfect gift for sweet little Morgan I came up with the BEST idea. I contacted her photographer, who I just happen to know, (Jodie and Kim of Fresh Art Photography) and asked them to help me. This is what they came up with:

Melanie is a HUGE baseball fan. Well, actually she is a HUGE Cardinals fan. We have quite the little rivalry going. I took this opportunity to show the sweeter side of the Cubs.

All I had to do was hand off the jersey to Jodie - then I asked her to be creative. She and Kim came up with the whole concept. Secretly- with out Melanie knowing! They are AMAZING photographers!

When I gave Mel the gift at lunch today she laughed so hard I think she was crying.

I love giving the perfect gift!

cfrrc

Friday, Luke's class hosted chapel. They talked about CFRRC: creation (God created the world), fall (sin entered the world thru Adam), redemption (Jesus died for our sins), reconciliation (we are saved, or reconciled, to Christ and now are living as such) and consummation (Jesus returns).

They have been learning about this all year long. They did a play that "looked back" throughout the school year. It was really sweet......

After chapel the parents and grandparents were invited back to the classroom for some activities. It was a fun morning...

our last meal- or is it?!

Today, on this beautiful day, we hosted our annual crab boil. The weather was perfect, the food was exceptional and the company was wonderful. I think after 7 years we are finally hitting our stride! Thankfully the world did not come to an end. So there is more deliciousness in the future....

The kids played and played and played!

It's one of our favorite events of the year! If you couldn't come this year mark your calendar now for the 3rd Saturday in May, 2012...
