up on the rooftop

We are in decorating for the holidays mode.  Last weekend, when it was warm, Dale get the big ladder out and put lights on our house.  For the first time!  Now that Thanksgiving is over we can turn them on.  They really look amazing.  We have a few final touches before the outside is done though.

On the inside we have our tree up.  Well, 2 trees and some garland.  I still have to finish the nativity BUT it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!

thanksmas

This past week we celebrated Thanksmas with the Beachy family.  It's a Christmas celebration at Thanksgiving time where we eat and eat and eat, open presents and give thanks for all of God's blessings in our lives.   We also played games, did crafts and the ladies even went out shopping at 10:30 pm on Thursday night to see what all the fuss was about.   We had a great time.

The kids had a lot of fun playing with their cousins.  Carsyn enjoyed playing outside most of the time.  She aggravated played with the chickens and made them a Thanksgiving feast too.

We enjoyed bacon and pepper encrusted prime rib (instead of poultry)...
We made t-shirts by coloring pictures on sand paper and then ironing it on a t-shirt...

 We made auntie ann's pretzels...
we had a midnight chocolate fountain - ok it wasn't at midnight it was at 10pm...
and there was more and more playing outside...

Luke
Reagan
Mom
Dad
crocodiles (C)
Christmas (C)
toys (C)

telephones- to keep in touch with grandma and grandpa in South Africa
our home

 roasted pomegranate brussel sprouts
 black pepper/pomegranate glazed turkey

everything was delicious (thanks to Bobby Flay)!

chris

Last night Dale and I took the kids to their first concert.  Chris Tomlin was in town with Louie Giglio.  We had seen them in concert several years ago and immediately knew the kids would love it when they were older.

Luke stood by Dale throughout the whole concert.  He was smiling the whole time.  His favorite thing was the drummer.  Luke would love to be a drummer unfortunately he would have to take piano first (probably not gonna happen...)

Reagan was standing with me.  She loved it too.  She sang and asked about a million questions: Do Chris' fingers hurt while he in playing?  If you were singing on stage with them would you wear high heels?   Where exactly do whales live?  It was endless and hilarious.

Carsyn simply watched and took it all in.  At the end she fell asleep in my lap.  Sweet girl.

The concert was great.  The whole thing was very worshipful. I was glad to be a part of the experience.

south africa

Today my parents are headed to South Africa.  They will be spending the next 9 months working at a camp near Durbin.  My dad will be using his skills constructing things and my mom will be sewing and cooking.  They are joining their friends (who are there for 5 months) and their daughter and son-in-law (who run the camp).  My parents are glad to be able to use their skills to serve God.

The kids and I dropped them at the airport this morning.  It was tough to see them go.   We know they are headed out to do good work it's just that 9 months is a long time.  On the way to school Carsyn sat in the back of the car and cried.  She was super sad.   We will all miss them....

At noon I had sushi with a bunch of my friends.  It was great to hang out and have my mind on other things.  I have a great group of friends!

The cousins were visiting this weekend.  The weather was beautiful!  They played outside and in the play cave (most of the time).  They always have a blast together.
