Christmas eve

We start our Beachy Christmas celebration on Christmas eve. We began the afternoon with cut out cookies making. Reagan ate a knife full of icing between each cookie she decorated. Thankfully I only let her decorate 2 (kidding.)




It snowed most of the day. The kids played and played outside. They had lots of fun!





Later we made sushi. That is not a normal Beachy tradition. It was quite shocking to the system to add something new. The Beachy side is more traditional. This is a good sign...

addendum

In regard to my last post...

We celebrate Christmas sans Santa. If you enjoy the cookie eating, present leaving big guy then GREAT!! If you read my blog and know me then you already knew I am not against you believing. If you read my blog and don't know me then I hope you weren't offended.... each to their own.

Christmas

We celebrated Christmas this evening. It was an impromptu decision. The kids were very eager to give me the presents they picked out so they talked me into it. We had dinner, read the Christmas story and sang hymns. Then we discussed the three wise men and how they brought gifts to Jesus. We want our kids to connect gifts/giving with Jesus- not the big man in the red suit. They were like, "Of course mom. Three wise men, three gifts, that is why we get three gifts..."

I am really glad that they get Christmas.

They really get it.

They know Jesus chose to come to this earth as a baby specifically for them. He was born in a stable, lived an uncomfortable life, and died a treacherous death -for them. For us. For you.

And that is why we love Christmas so much. It is part of the story of God's great love for us.

Friday night the kids had belt testing. The went from white to yellow!

I helped in Luke's class party on Friday. They got to wear their pj's. Ms. Susan read a few books, made reindeer food, ate cookies and played Christmas bingo. When all that was done they got to dance to some Christmas songs. It was a lot of fun!





I stopped in Reagan's party as they were listening to a Christmas story.....

baggies (again)

I have a few remaining reusable baggies in case you are interested. They make great gifts! We are even using them as gift card holders! They are 1 for $6 or 3 for $15.

I have sandwich size and snack size...
(no sandwich in the brown with dots and swirls though).

Only 1 snack karate bag left and the camo one is a snack size which has been paired with a brown or black sandwich size.

pioneer day

The third grade has been studying pioneers for the last several weeks. The teachers decided to have a pioneer Christmas celebration. The students made stew and ate it along with popcorn and apples for lunch. Later they circulated through 4 centers: letter writing, pioneer games, making rag dolls, and making honey butter (and eating it on cornbread). They also had a guest reader: Mr. Crane. It was a fun day to be a third grader!
