recap

Surgery (dale), stomach flu (amy), long nights with little sleep (dale and amy), waiting on surgery patient (amy), painting (amy plus help from Adam, Lisa and Jacob), and oh yeah, the sewer backed up this morning (amy). Yes, that's right. The sewer. If God is trying to teach me something I am a slow learner - deep breath - I'm off to paint........

day 3

Today is the third day after surgery. "They" say that the third day is the worst. It has proven true for Dale. He made that comment this morning. Hard to believe that this is the worst- every night has been terrible since he's been home. Maybe there is an upswing after the third day?!?

Here is a picture of him on his "exercise machine". He has to be on it 6 hours a day!

update

Dale's surgery went well. The surgeon did as much as he could arthroscopicly but then had to make an incision in the leg to finish up. It made the surgery go faster but now recovery will be longer because he had to cut through the muscle. They got as much of the arthritis as they could, reshaped the ball, fixed the cartilage tear, and drilled holes to stimulate scar cartilage. We are home now. Dale is very uncomfortable. He cannot do anything on his own. The kids are going to visit their grandparents until Monday which will give us both a chance to rest (I have the stomach flu- at least I hope that's what it is...)
here are a few surgery pictures.....

6:30 am on Wednesday- Darrell and Beth beat us to the hospital.

You gotta love paper pants...

This might be the only time it is acceptable for a man to wear hose....

Luke was very interested in the whole process.

Isn't he cute? He just wanted to hold his dad's hand.

The kids had fun coloring in the hospital room.

tired

I have not blogged in awhile. It's not that I am tired of blogging, it's that I am tired of my life. NOT my life meaning my kids, husband etc... I mean my life of: construction dust, construction workers, contractors, and home depot. It has been 6 months since we started this phase of our "little project." 6 long months. I was laughed at when I suggested we would be in by Thanksgiving- they said "oh, you'll be in way before that!" HA! Dale's surgery is Wednesday and we have a ways to go: finish the mud and taping, paint, tile shower, glass block, hardwood, doors, trim (which D is making), fixtures, and carpet. Obviously Dale is not doing all that. But therein lies one of the problems- we are the only ones in a hurry....

Dale and his dad started making the trim tonight (then the planer gave out...)

fall fun

I love fall days - especially when it is 65 degrees! The kids had a blast raking the leaves (well, I actually did the raking) and then jumping in the "gianormous" pile.

boring

This may seem boring to most people but the drywall was delivered yesterday!! They start on Monday!! Dale is finishing up the insulation today. YEAH!!!! If you are good at painting then get ready to volunteer.....
